How prescriptions work at Home Medix

Some items we carry require a valid prescription before we can ship them. This article explains why, how to send us your prescription, how long you have, and what a valid prescription needs to include.

Why some items require a prescription

Certain types of medical equipment and supplies require a prescription from a licensed provider before they can be dispensed. When your order includes one of these items, we place the order on hold until we receive and confirm a valid prescription.

You are not charged while your order is on hold. We only charge your card once we have received a valid prescription and your order ships.

How to send us your prescription

Choose whichever is easiest:

Email it to us. Reply to any of your order emails, or send your prescription to [email protected].

Fax it to us. Send it to (888) 553-0051.

Have us request it for you. Reply to your order email with your prescriber's name and fax number, and we will request the prescription from their office on your behalf.

Your prescription and personal information are kept private and secure.

How long you have

Please send your prescription within 5 days of placing your order. If we do not receive a valid prescription within that time, your order is cancelled automatically and you are not charged. You are welcome to place a new order anytime.

What a valid prescription needs to include

A prescription generally needs to include the following:

  • The patient's full name

  • The date the prescription was written

  • The prescribing provider's name and signature

  • The item or category being prescribed

Requirements can vary by product.

If you are not sure what your prescription needs to include, reach out and our team will help.

What happens after you send it

Once we receive your prescription, our team reviews it. If it is valid, we release your order, charge your card, and send your shipping confirmation with tracking. If anything is missing or needs updating, we will contact you so you can resend it.
